A total of 346 flights were canceled and 133 cases of water meter freezing in the capital area occurred due to nationwide cold waves and heavy snowfall until the 24th.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, from the 22nd until 6 a.m. on this day, canceled flights included 180 flights at Jeju, 91 at Gimpo, 20 at Daegu, and 16 at Gwangju.
Twenty-seven local roads, including 10 in Jeju, were closed, and 69 passenger ships on 51 routes, including the Gunsan~Eocheongdo route, could not depart. Additionally, 173 trails in 9 national parks, including 60 trails in Mudeungsan National Park, were also closed.
There were 133 cases of water meter freezing accidents nationwide, including 60 in Seoul and 33 in Incheon, all of which have been fully restored.
As of 6 a.m. on this day, there were no casualties due to the cold wave and heavy snowfall.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, snow accumulated mainly in the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions and Jeju, with heavy snowfall expected in the western coastal areas of Chungnam and the western Jeolla region until the morning. As of 5 a.m. on this day, 22.1 cm of snow accumulated in Jeju and 16.1 cm in Sunchang, Jeonbuk, among other areas.
In the central region where the cold wave warning was issued, eastern Jeonbuk, and inland Gyeongbuk, morning temperatures are forecasted to drop below minus 10℃ until the 26th, making it extremely cold.
