Truth and Reconciliation Commission Extends Investigation Period by One Year... Activities Continue Until May Next Year
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) has confirmed a one-year extension of its investigation period.
On the 23rd, the TRC held its 71st plenary meeting and adopted a resolution to extend the investigation period, which was set to expire on May 26, by one more year. Accordingly, the TRC will be able to conduct investigative activities until May 26 of next year, and complete the report writing by November of next year.

As of the 9th, a total of 20,092 cases have been filed with the TRC, of which 53% (10,567 cases) have been processed. Considering the progress of the investigations, the TRC judged that it would be difficult to complete the truth-finding by the expiration of the investigation period, and has been pushing for an extension since May of last year.
Earlier, President Yoon Suk-yeol agreed to extend the activity period of the TRC.
