Yongsan-gu Produces '2024 Changes in District Administration and Systems'

Projects Broadly Targeting Infants, Youth, and Seniors... Leaflets Available at District Office 2nd Floor General Civil Service Office and Each Dong Resident Center Civil Service Office
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will introduce the "2024 Changes in District Administration and Systems" on the 23rd. This is to help residents who were not previously eligible to benefit by confirming the newly changed parts compared to 2023.
To make it easy for residents to check the contents, a leaflet has been produced and placed at the civil service office on the 2nd floor of the district office and at 16 community service centers, and it will also be posted on the district website.
The policies introduced this time include a total of 40 projects across five areas: ▲Administration & Communication 6 items ▲Economy & Jobs 6 items ▲Childcare & Education 7 items ▲Welfare & Health 13 items ▲Safety & Environment 8 items.
In particular, this year, there will be a focus on education, welfare, and safety sectors, with many projects aimed at a wide range of residents from infants and young children to youth and the elderly.
‘Administration & Communication’ sector... Efforts to enhance communication for the convenience of civil petitioners
From February, a dedicated “Government24” counter will be installed at the comprehensive civil service office on the 2nd floor of Yongsan-gu Office, allowing free issuance of about 1,300 types of civil documents. Additionally, from November, an AI-based “Multilingual Interpretation Service System” will be established to provide communication convenience for foreigners handling civil affairs.
‘Economy & Jobs’ sector... Focus on youth employment support and revitalization of traditional markets
Youth job seekers aged 19 to 39 will be supported with up to 100,000 KRW per person annually for national certification and language test fees. Applications will be accepted from May until the budget is exhausted, only for tests taken in the current year.
Also, the areas where parking fees are supported for customers using traditional markets will be expanded. Support will be provided for ▲Huam Market (900 KRW/1 hour) ▲Shinheung Market (900 KRW/1 hour) ▲Yongmun Market (2,500 KRW/30 minutes) ▲Itaewon Market (2,500 KRW/first 1 hour) ▲Hangang Shopping Center (3,000 KRW/1 hour). ‘Childcare & Education’ sector... Expansion of parental allowance and first meeting voucher support
To help address the low birthrate issue, the “parental allowance” will be expanded from 700,000 KRW to 1,000,000 KRW for 0-year-olds and from 350,000 KRW to 500,000 KRW for 1-year-olds. Also, the “first meeting voucher” support will be expanded to 2,000,000 KRW for the first child and 3,000,000 KRW for the second child and beyond, per newborn.
Policies for children and youth have also been prepared. The “Yongmun-dong Children’s Library (37 Hyochangwon-ro 1-gil)” will open in July. The library will include ▲a combined materials room for infants and children ▲a digital experience space for children ▲and a book caf?.
Study caf?-style learning spaces for teenagers have been remodeled and opened as ▲Cheongpa Youth Study Room (4th floor, Cheongpa-dong Community Service Center) and ▲Hangang Youth Study Room (3rd floor, Hangangno-dong Community Service Center).
Welfare & Health sector... Providing broad welfare from children to the elderly
To ensure healthy childbirth for both children and mothers, the existing income criteria have been abolished, and the scope of medical expense support has been expanded to include all premature infants, congenital anomaly infants, and high-risk pregnant women in the area.
A reward of 50,000 KRW per case will be given to reporters who notify about households in crisis that need help. In addition, the veterans’ welfare allowance has been increased from 50,000 KRW to 70,000 KRW per month to strengthen respect and support for national veterans.
Safety & Environment sector... Implementing resident-centered safety policies
For residents who suffer unexpected accidents or disasters, the district has introduced a resident safety insurance for the first time. Coverage items include ▲accidental death ▲dog bite medical expenses ▲public transportation injury treatment expenses, etc. Foreigners who have registered their residence are also included.
To create safer streets, by the first half of the year, an additional ▲20 safe emergency bells ▲10 roadside bus stops ▲3 village bus stop safe bell BITs will be installed. ※ BIT: Bus Information Terminal
