Additionally, SR is collaborating with online secondhand trading platforms such as Danggeun, Bungaejangter, and Junggonara to promote the eradication of unfair ticket trading and strengthen crackdowns on illegal transactions.
SR plans to take a tough stance by requesting police investigations if any signs of unfair ticket hoarding, distribution, or resale at a premium price are found. Selling train tickets at prices higher than the normal fare is an illegal act violating Article 10 of the Railroad Business Act and Article 3 of the Minor Offenses Act, punishable by fines up to 10 million KRW, penalties, or detention.
Moreover, tickets purchased through scalping are mainly sold in forms not recognized as legitimate tickets, such as captured screenshots or text messages. Using such tickets to board trains requires paying up to 30 times the additional fare.
