Including 3 Major Directions Such as Nurturing Future Talent in Gangbuk, Expanded and Reorganized from 6 Projects Last Year to 10 Projects
Attracting Attention with Various Career Exploration and Parent Capacity Building Education... Implementing Customized Projects by School Level
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced that it has established the "2024 Gangbuk-gu Career and College Admission Comprehensive Plan" to nurture future talents in the Gangbuk style and plans to focus its capabilities on promoting educational tasks.
The comprehensive plan includes three main directions: ▲ nurturing future talents in Gangbuk in line with the Ministry of Education's 2022 revised curriculum and career education activation measures ▲ supporting aptitude and talent development through the operation of the Gangbuk-style ‘Career Exploration Intensive Period’ ▲ providing efficient career and college admission support with experts.
To concretize these three main directions, the district will expand and reorganize the existing six projects by adding four new projects, making a total of ten projects.
First, the district will expand and supplement six projects carried out last year, including ▲ support for Korea Job World experience ▲ operation of career exploration and Future Road ▲ holding career and college admission counseling and college entrance briefings ▲ operation of high school-community linked career education courses ▲ operation of career and college admission counseling and college entrance briefings ▲ operation of the Career and Job Experience Support Center.
In particular, support for Korea Job World experience, the largest comprehensive job experience center in Korea for elementary school students, will increase participation from 172 last year to 1,580 this year. The number of middle school students visiting the Nowon Youth Future Career Center, which offers experiences with 4th Industrial Revolution technologies, will also increase significantly from 211 to 1,600. This expansion reflects the results of a satisfaction survey conducted among last year’s participants, with 83% of Korea Job World participants and 81% of Nowon Youth Future Career Center participants expressing their intention to participate again.
Additionally, career and college admission counseling, which was previously held only twice a year during early and regular admission periods, will officially start from April this year and be expanded to a total of nine sessions, once a month.
Other projects such as operating high school-community linked career education courses and college entrance briefings for high school students, operating the Career and Job Experience Support Center, and holding career and college admission fairs will also be expanded and strengthened to support the career capabilities of Gangbuk-gu students.
This year, to greatly assist students in planning their careers, four new projects will be promoted: ▲ customized competency enhancement education for parents ▲ future education camps for elementary and middle school students ▲ university campus tours ▲ Gangbuk Future Education Festival.
First, the district has ambitiously prepared customized competency enhancement education for parents. This project consists of various programs such as entrance briefings for prospective parents, parent lectures by school level for elementary, middle, and high schools, and a college entrance academy that deals with admissions in depth, expected to receive great responses from parents. The ‘2024 New Parent Education for Preparing Elementary, Middle, and High School Admission’ will be held three times from February 2 to 3.
The future education camps for elementary and middle school students, composed of academic improvement camps, English camps, and science academy programs; university campus tours, a career tour program with mentors from each university; and the Gangbuk Future Education Festival, a future education festival program where students, parents, and teachers can access and enjoy various educational information, are also highly anticipated.
For detailed information on each project, please contact the Future Education Team of the Education Support Division at Gangbuk-gu Office.
