Gwangju University Signs MOU with Japan's National Oita University for Professional Workforce Training
Gwangju University recently signed an academic exchange and professional workforce training agreement on urban regeneration with Japan's National Oita University.
At the signing ceremony, President Kim Dong-jin met with Seigo Kitano, President of National Oita University, and Kenji Sugio, Vice President, stating, "Through joint research and academic exchange meetings for mutual training of urban regeneration and maintenance professionals with National Oita University, we expect to play a significant role in cultivating global experts. We will contribute to the development of both universities through this MOU."
During this visit to Japan, a total of 22 people accompanied the delegation, including Professor Lee Myung-kyu, Special Professor Kim Dong-gi, Adjunct Professors Kang Dong-wook and Yoon Young-dam, Lecturer Choi Yeon-hwa, and graduate students from Gwangju University's Department of Urban and Real Estate Studies, who have maintained annual academic exchange activities with National Oita University. They discussed resuming academic exchange activities between the two universities, which had been suspended due to COVID-19, and plans to promote joint projects.
Professor Lee Myung-kyu said, "The Gwangju University Urban Regeneration Professional Workforce Training Project Group is making meticulous efforts to cultivate global master's and doctoral level experts. In the future, we are also preparing for international exchanges not only with Japan but also with China."

Meanwhile, Gwangju University is conducting convergent, regionally tailored education that combines specialized theory and practical field learning through the Urban Regeneration Professional Workforce Training Project as a hub university for urban regeneration in the Honam and Jeju regions designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
