Donation of Sales Proceeds from Seongbuk Global Cultural Festival
2023 Latin America Festival and European Christmas Market Donate 11.86 Million Won in Sales Revenue
Sharing the Meaning of Christmas by Supporting Local Neighbors through the Warm Winter Hope Ondol Project
On the 12th, Seongbuk-gu Office in Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held a donation ceremony with funds raised from booth sales at the '2023 Seongbuk Global Cultural Festival,' which was attended by both Koreans and foreigners.
The donation for helping neighbors at this global cultural festival was prepared by voluntarily donating 10% of the sales revenue from booths at the Latin America Festival held on September 9 last year, which featured 14 Central and South American countries, and the European Christmas Market held over two days from December 9 to 10, which featured 11 European countries. The total amount raised was 11.86 million KRW.
Representing the participating countries and operators of the booths, Hans Schneider, Honorary Dongjang of Seongbuk-dong, and Wolfgang Angerholzer, Ambassador of Austria to Korea, presented the donation to Mayor Lee Seung-ro. The donation will be used through the Community Chest of Korea to support low-income multicultural families and other neighbors in need within the community.
In particular, to create a festival that develops together with the local community, the Seongbukcheon Merchants Association, which participated in this year's European Christmas Market, also donated sales proceeds, doubling the spirit of sharing.

Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, “The 2023 global festival was more successful than ever thanks to the active participation and support of residents and foreign residents. I would like to express my gratitude to the participating embassies that voluntarily donated their sales proceeds to help low-income groups. We will strive to make the festival, which grows both qualitatively and quantitatively every year, not just an event for enjoyment but a festival that spreads the warmth of community sharing through exchanges and participation between Koreans and foreigners.”
