Namwon City to Distribute 'City Direct Payment' This Month... Targeting 12,207 Recipients
Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 16th that it will pay 5 billion KRW in 2024 basic public interest direct payment city funds within this month.
The payment targets are 12,207 farmers who have their addresses in Namwon City and cultivate farmland both inside and outside Namwon City.
The standard payment area ranges from 0.1 to 6.0 hectares, and payment will be made by applying 415,950 KRW per hectare to 12,020 hectares of farmland eligible for the 2023 basic public interest direct payment.
In particular, since the city-funded direct payment contributes to the enhancement of the public functions of agriculture and rural areas such as environmental conservation, rural maintenance, and food safety through agricultural activities, as well as income stability for farmers, the city plans to actively implement related policies to stabilize farmers' management and improve their quality of life.
Previously, at the end of November last year, the city paid 25.8 billion KRW in national funds for the basic public interest direct payment to 12,640 households and 12,532 hectares, and in mid-December, it completed payments of 1.12 billion KRW in provincial direct payments to 9,840 households and 8,737 hectares, and 110 million KRW in field agriculture direct payments to 5,613 households and 1,706 hectares.
The 2024 city-funded direct payments will be made after completing administrative procedures such as final confirmation of eligible households and farmland and account verification at the eup, myeon, and dong levels.
A city official said, “In these difficult times of high inflation and high interest rates, we will promptly pay the funds before the Lunar New Year holiday, which requires a lot of funds, to support farmers producing healthy food,” and added, “We will do our best to manage until the city-funded direct payments are completed.”
