Masan Yongma High School Alumni Association Selects Two Recipients for the 'Proud Yongma Person Award'
Main Award Winner Jang Hyun-seok, Special Award Recipient Alumnus Kim Seong-gil
The Masan Yongma High School Alumni Association in Gyeongnam announced the recipients of the '2023 Proud Yongma Person Award' on the 16th.
The main award went to ▲Jang Hyun-seok (Masan Yongma High School, 3rd year, baseball player), and the special award was given to ▲Kim Seong-gil, senior alumnus (20th class, athlete).
Player Jang was recognized for being the first adult national representative baseball player in Korea, winning the gold medal at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, and joining the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in the United States after the season ended, thereby elevating the status of national and regional baseball and demonstrating the Yongma spirit of ambition and challenge.
Alumnus Kim was highly praised for serving as the oldest active insurance planner at the age of 99, being selected as a 'Role Model for the 100-Year Era' in 2023, showing remarkable vitality, and becoming a respected elder in the local community and a role model for Yongma people.
Kang Ki-cheol, president of the Masan Yongma High School Alumni Association, said, "This award was established and implemented to honor alumni who have contributed to the development of the nation and local community and have brought honor to our alma mater through their achievements in various fields throughout the year, so that Yongma people can take pride and be motivated to devote themselves further in their respective fields." He added, "The recipients of this honor have shown the Yongma spirit through challenge and ambition. We present this award with respect and gratitude."

The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on the 24th at the '2024 General Meeting of the Alumni Association,' with the recipients and many alumni in attendance. The main award recipient will receive a prize of 5 million KRW and a plaque, and the special award recipient will receive a prize of 2 million KRW and a plaque.
