Democratic Party's Kim Tae-seong Registers as Preliminary Candidate for the 22nd National Assembly Election in Yeongam-Muan-Shinan District

"I will fire the starting shot for the Democratic Party's general election victory"

Kim Tae-seong (58), Vice Chairman of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea and former commander of the 11th Mechanized Infantry Division, registered as a preliminary candidate at the Muan County Election Commission on the 12th for the Jeonnam Yeongam·Muan·Shinan electoral district.

After completing his registration, Kim Tae-seong expressed his determination to run, stating, "I will definitely win and restore the honor of this political stronghold, as well as fire the starting signal for the Democratic Party's victory in this election."

Candidate Kim is originally from Imja-myeon, Shinan County. After retiring as an Army Major General in 2021, he gained recognition as a security policy designer for presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung's campaign. Since then, he has served as the Senior Vice Chairman of the National Defense and Security Special Committee and Vice Chairman of the Policy Committee.

He began his official campaign by first visiting Jido and the Muan 5-day Market to listen closely to the difficulties faced by the local people.

Meanwhile, five candidates, including Kim Tae-seong, have completed their preliminary candidate registration for the Yeongam·Muan·Shinan electoral district. They are Democratic Party candidates Kim Byung-do, Kim Tae-seong, and Jung Seung-wook; Progressive Party candidate Yoon Bu-sik; and Korea Farmers and Fishermen Party candidate Kim Pal-bong.

In addition, incumbent National Assembly member Seo Sam-seok is expected to seek a third term, and Democratic Party members Baek Jae-wook, former senior administrative officer at the Blue House, and Shin Jeong-sik, former special advisor, as well as Hwang Du-nam, head of the Yeongam·Muan·Shinan party committee of the People Power Party, are also being considered.
