Icheon-si Expands Multi-Child Water Rate Discount from '3 Children → 2 Children'
Notice Voice Conversion Barcode and QR Code Service Also Available
On the 10th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will expand the eligibility for water utility fee discounts for multi-child households from "3 or more children" to "2 or more children" starting this year to alleviate the childcare cost burden.
The expanded discount applies to households registered in Icheon City with two or more children, at least one of whom is under 18 years old. A discount equivalent to the fee for 10㎥ at the first-tier residential rate (approximately 8,900 KRW) will be applied to the monthly usage fee per household. If the actual usage is less than 10㎥, the discount will be applied based on the actual usage amount.
Eligible applicants must visit the administrative welfare center in charge of their address to submit an application form and relevant supporting documents. Discounts will be applied from the next month's billing cycle based on applications received by the end of each month.
The city will also introduce a voice conversion barcode on water and sewage fee bills. Located on the right side of the first section of the bill, this barcode can be scanned using a voice conversion device for the visually impaired or the smartphone app "VoiceEye" to receive audio information such as the account holder's name, payment amount, and payment deadline.
Additionally, a QR code linking directly to the Icheon City Hall website will be introduced on the left side of the first section of the water and sewage fee bill, enabling easy access to fee inquiries, payments, smart/email bill subscription and cancellation, and credit card automatic payment subscription and cancellation.
