Yeongam-gun Joins Hands for Regional Community Education Development Zone
Agreement on Establishing Education Governance Among 18 Institutions
The local community of Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has united for the Education Development Special Zone.
According to the county, the Education Development Special Zone Regional Council signed a governance establishment business agreement at the county office on the 8th and decided to jointly respond to the Ministry of Education's Education Development Special Zone contest.
The Education Development Special Zone is part of the government's regional balanced development policy, where local governments, education offices, universities, companies, and public institutions work together to activate public education, reduce regional disparities, and comprehensively support education innovation, talent cultivation, and improvement of living conditions.
They are holding a business agreement ceremony for the regional council promoting the Education Development Special Zone and taking a commemorative photo.

The regional council, consisting of 18 organizations including Yeongam-gun, Yeongam Office of Education, local universities, companies, and public institutions, signed the agreement to designate a pilot project for the Education Development Special Zone, which will be the cornerstone of the Yeongam-type education model.
According to the agreement, the organizations belonging to the regional council will collaborate in various fields such as ‘establishing education development strategies and providing a child-friendly environment,’ ‘building a local talent cultivation system,’ ‘expanding support for public education,’ and ‘regional balanced development and improvement of local living conditions,’ thereby consolidating regional educational capabilities.
In particular, to ensure that talents educated locally can enter local universities, find employment or start businesses, and live in the region, they set joint goals of △creating a local talent ecosystem △enhancing public education competitiveness, and agreed to prepare concrete implementation plans.

County Governor Woo Seung-hee stated, “We will concentrate the capabilities of the local community to surely achieve the designation of the Education Development Special Zone,” and added, “We will establish a close local cooperation system so that ‘Innovative Capital Yeongam’ can be reborn as the ‘Education Capital.’”
