Yoon to Korean Prime Minister: "Measures Needed to Break Down Ministry Silos"
First Weekly Meeting of the President and Prime Minister This Year
On the 8th, President Yoon Suk-yeol ordered, "This year, please establish concrete measures such as personnel exchanges and budget support to break down barriers between ministries centered on tasks and to activate cooperation."
President Yoon made this request during the first weekly meeting of the year with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo at the Yongsan Presidential Office, according to a written briefing by Kim Soo-kyung, spokesperson for the Presidential Office.
Presidential aides and ministers have been visiting the field of public livelihood since the second half of last year under President Yoon's directive to listen to public sentiment.
In addition, inter-ministerial collaboration has been actively emphasized since the end of last year. This is because creating policies beneficial to the public requires not only bureaucrats visiting the field to hear difficulties and demands but also ministries working together.
On December 26 last year, at a Cabinet meeting, President Yoon stated, "Above all, we must boldly break down barriers between ministries and strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation centered on tasks."

The format of the 2024 New Year's work report was also changed. While last year's New Year's work report was given by each ministry separately, this year President Yoon introduced a 'Public Livelihood Discussion' method, inviting experts and citizens by topic to discuss with related ministries.
