Pohang Sangdae Elementary Club 'Sarang-i' Wins Grand Prize in 'Student Life Respect Contest'
Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 5th that Pohang Sangdae Elementary School received the Minister of Education Award, the grand prize, in the Ministry of Education’s “2023 Student Life Respect Excellent Club Contest.”
This contest was organized to encourage various educational activities for student suicide prevention through life respect club activities within schools and to spread a culture of respecting life.
The Ministry of Education selected 100 schools nationwide to operate excellent club activities and, through this contest, chose three schools with outstanding achievements at the elementary, middle, and high school levels to award the Minister of Education Award and a prize of 500,000 KRW.
The evaluation was conducted through quantitative assessment (club activity achievements and frequency, club attendance rate of 80% or higher) and qualitative assessment (goal suitability, club activity content, reflection of regional characteristics) to ensure objectivity and fairness.
The grand prize winner, Sangdae Elementary School (Pohang), operated the life respect club “Sarang-i” with 42 sessions under the theme “Not Alone, But Us.”
Main activities included making picket slogans, creating treasure hunt notes, writing replies to counseling concerns, brainstorming campaign activities, creating works for the Life Love Contest, and performing heart-strengthening exercises.
