Ando Geol "eSports Activation, One of the Solutions to Youth Issues"
Policy Discussion Meeting on the Theme 'Listening to Local Youth'
Discussion on Easing Youth Startup Regulations and Creating an Environment for Talent Influx
Ando-geol, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the Gwangju Dong-gu Nam-gu-eul constituency, stated that the activation of the e-sports industry could be one of the solutions to youth issues.
On the 3rd, Candidate An held a policy meeting titled "Listening to Local Youth" at the election office, where they exchanged opinions on the activation of the e-sports industry, easing regulations on youth startups, and creating an environment to attract talent.
The meeting was attended by about 20 youths, including Kim Yong-jin, head of the e-sports department at Chosun Institute of Technology, Yoo Young-tae, emeritus professor at Chosun University, Kim Yong-seop, professor at Chosun University, Oh Gun-seok, vice president of Gwangju Health University, and Cho Dae-young, adjunct professor at Korea IT Vocational School, who discussed youth problems and solutions.
Candidate An emphasized, "The activation of the e-sports industry through cultural convergence with surrounding industries can be a solution to youth problems. If good infrastructure such as related university departments and stadiums is utilized and administrative and institutional support is provided, Gwangju can establish itself as a mecca of the e-sports industry, and the profits generated will spread throughout the region."
Professor Kim Yong-jin of Chosun Institute of Technology explained, "Although Gwangju has an international e-sports stadium, there is a lack of experts who can educate e-sports. Even if experts are invited to provide education, there are no sponsoring companies in the region to nurture players and maintain teams continuously, so talent inevitably leaks out."
The attendees also pointed out issues such as high barriers to youth startups, lack of quality jobs, and legislative processes excluding youth voices.

Candidate Ando-geol stated, "For the development of Gwangju, it is necessary to secure human resources through talent cultivation, build startup infrastructure and ease regulations, and provide procedural support. We must create an environment to attract domestic and international talent, draw an industrial map suitable for balanced development in the local era, and provide opportunities for youth to challenge themselves freely."
