Kia Gwangju Achieves Record Production... Sportage Doing Well
Kia AutoLand Gwangju recorded domestic sales of 187,968 units, exports of 353,132 units, and total production of 541,100 units last year.
After 538,896 units in 2014 and 533,483 units in 2015, this is the third time annual production has surpassed 500,000 units. It is the highest production volume in nine years since 2014.
Strong demand in the global market drove production performance, led by strong sales of popular models such as the Sportage, Seltos, and Bongo Truck.
The cumulative production of the Sportage, the flagship model and a global best-selling car enjoying phenomenal popularity, surpassed 3 million units as of October last year.
Kia AutoLand Gwangju first produced the 2nd generation Sportage at Plant 2 in August 2004, followed by the launch of the 3rd generation Sportage R in June 2010, the 4th generation The SUV Sportage in September 2015, and has been producing the 5th generation Sportage since July 2021.
