'Daesupmalgeun Damyang Eco-friendly Rice' Served on Jeju Island School Meals
Annual Supply of 400 Tons Until February 2026
Daesupmalgeun Damyang eco-friendly rice is once again served on school tables in Jeju Island.
Damyang County (Governor Lee Byeong-no) recently announced that Damyang County Nonghyup Rice Supply Corporation (Damyang County Nonghyup Integrated RPC) has been selected as a supplier of eco-friendly rice for school meals and will supply 400 tons of rice annually to over 700 elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as daycare centers in the Jeju area until February 2026.
Daesupmalgeun Damyang eco-friendly rice has been supplied to Seoul and other areas since 2011, and in 2023, 1,176 tons of eco-friendly rice were supplied annually to metropolitan school meal programs.
This re-selection has become an opportunity to once again highlight the excellence of Damyang eco-friendly rice and the clean environment of Damyang as a center of eco-friendly agriculture.
Daesupmalgeun Damyang rice was selected as one of Jeonnam’s top 10 high-quality brand rices in 2023, and its quality has been widely recognized through deliveries to places such as Jogyesa Temple in Seoul and the Jeonnam Provincial Office.
To ensure thorough quality control, Damyang County invested 10.5 billion KRW in 2022 to establish an integrated rice processing center (RPC) and conducts four safety inspections throughout the entire process of production, harvesting, processing, and shipment.
Moreover, through various supports for eco-friendly rice production, eco-friendly rice is cultivated on 977 hectares, and efforts continue in multiple areas, including promoting the consumption of eco-friendly agricultural products from Jeju Island, leading to the re-selection as a supplier this year following the past two years.
