Ulsan Food Radiation 'Safe'... All 741 Tests of Agricultural, Marine Products and Processed Foods Show No Detection
Last year, all food radiation tests in Ulsan were reported as 'passed.'
The Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute announced on the 3rd that all samples tested for radiation in seafood, agricultural products, and processed foods last year were deemed suitable.
The tests were conducted on a total of 741 samples, including 558 seafood products, 68 agricultural products, and 115 processed foods produced or distributed in Ulsan throughout the year.
The test items included radioactive iodine (131I) and cesium (134 Cs, 137 Cs), none of which were detected in any samples, indicating safety.
The institute plans to continue testing in 2024, focusing on ▲ seafood produced in aquaculture farms ▲ distributed agricultural and marine products and processed foods ▲ food ingredients supplied to school meals, with particular emphasis on seafood radiation tests, which are of high public interest.
An institute official stated, “We will continue to conduct regular food radiation monitoring to ensure that safe food can be purchased and to minimize damage to the local seafood industry.”
