Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, "Laying the Foundation for Dynamic Growth and Balanced Development"
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong, "Establishing RE100 Across All Industrial Complexes in the Jurisdiction"
Kim Bo-ra, Mayor of Anseong, "Fostering Semiconductors with Dongsin Industrial Complex as a Hub"
'Semiconductor' and 'Eco-friendly' are the keywords that major local governments in the southern Gyeonggi region set as the core goals of their administration through their New Year's addresses in the Gapjin year.
On the 2nd, according to major local governments in southern Gyeonggi Province, Lee Sang-il, mayor of Yongin City, expressed his determination in his New Year's address to make the 'L-shaped semiconductor belt' the foundation for growth to enhance the city's future value. The city plans to focus its capabilities on the successful establishment of the advanced semiconductor belt connecting the Ildong-Namsa Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex, Wonsam Yongin Semiconductor Cluster, Samsung Electronics Giheung Campus, and Yongin Platform City. Mayor Lee stated, "We will create a dynamic growth foundation and enhance Yongin's future value through sustainable balanced development," adding, "We will raise the value of people and daily life through welfare that empowers life, and upgrades in culture and living environment."
Osan City and Anseong City also placed emphasis on fostering the 'semiconductor' industry. Kim Bora, mayor of Anseong City, expressed her determination to "actively foster the semiconductor industry this year." The plan is to vigorously promote customized support projects such as related technology development and workforce training, centered on the Dongshin General Industrial Complex, which was designated last year as a specialized complex for semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang). To this end, Mayor Kim announced that a dedicated organization related to semiconductors will be launched this year, and that she will collaborate with semiconductor-related universities in the area to establish a workforce training center.
Lee Kwon-jae, mayor of Osan City, expressed his determination to "focus on establishing an economically self-sufficient city base through the development of a specialized semiconductor SoBuJang city." To achieve this, the city plans to concentrate its capabilities on major development projects such as the 'Unamtteul AI City' and the 'Segyo 1 District Terminal Site Complex Facility.'
Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun's New Year's address emphasized 'Special City' status and 'Renewable Energy.' Following the population surpassing one million at the end of last year, the city plans to focus its efforts on creating RE100 industrial complexes for sustainable urban development. Mayor Jeong stated, "All industrial complexes established in the city, including H-Techno Valley?the first RE100 industrial complex in Gyeonggi Province located in the Yanggam-myeon area?will be developed as RE100 complexes." Additionally, Mayor Jeong added that he will expand innovative administration utilizing big data and advanced technologies, such as establishing an 'autonomous driving demonstration city,' building a 'digital road system,' and installing security facilities through satellite data analysis.
