A man in his 50s threatened a convenience store employee with a metal hammer at a convenience store in Seoul.
According to the Jungnang Police Station in Seoul on the 31st, Mr. A, a man in his 50s who threatened a convenience store employee by swinging a hammer and saying "I will kill you" at a convenience store in Jungnang-gu, Seoul on the 17th, was arrested on the 27th on charges of special intimidation.
The scene of the incident was fully captured in a video titled "Real Situation. Convenience Store Metal Hammer Threat Suspect Arrested" uploaded on the 'Seoul Police' YouTube channel.
After entering the convenience store, Mr. A stood facing away for a long time at the door, blocking other customers from entering.
Even though the employee tried to stop him, Mr. A continued to stand firm at the door, suddenly took out a hammer from his pocket, and threatened the employee by saying "I will kill you." With his left hand, he held the convenience store door to block others from entering, while swinging the metal hammer with his right hand.
The employee called 112, saying "A customer is threatening me with a hammer," and took refuge inside. Taking advantage of this, Mr. A fled outside the convenience store.
The police who arrived at the convenience store confirmed Mr. A's appearance through the employee's statement and CCTV, then tracked his movement route through a search. Mr. A was found on the rooftop of a nearby building within an hour and reportedly fiercely resisted the police who arrived with batons and shields by swinging the hammer at them.
