Boseong-gun Begins Construction of Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center Project

First Step for Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center for Culture and Leisure

42 Billion KRW Invested, 3 Buildings, 3 Floors Above Ground, Total Floor Area 10,524㎡

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it held a grand groundbreaking ceremony for the Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center at the Chaedongseon Music Hall on the 28th.

Boseong-gun signed the construction contract for the Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center on the 20th, and on the 28th, took a hopeful first step together with about 400 residents of Beolgyo-eup, embodying the wishes of the local community.

The Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center construction project aims for completion in the first half of 2026. It will be built on lot 475 in Hoejeong-ri, Beolgyo-eup, with a total project cost of 42 billion KRW, consisting of three buildings, each three stories above ground, with a total floor area of 10,524㎡.

The cultural facility building will house a small cinema, a small library, a kids caf?, a childcare center, and a shared kitchen. The living facility building will include club rooms, group activity rooms, audiovisual rooms, and meeting rooms for resident activities.

The sports facility building will feature a swimming pool, a fitness center, smart sports facilities, a multipurpose auditorium, and an archery caf?.

Outdoor spaces will include a fountain tunnel and fountain plaza, a small stream, a roller skating rink, a basketball court, and a firefly walking trail, creating a communication plaza where people of all ages can enjoy themselves. Additionally, about 180 parking spaces will be provided to alleviate downtown parking difficulties.

Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, “Once the Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center is completed, it will expand life-oriented social infrastructure such as cultural, leisure, childcare, and sports facilities, and we expect a revolutionary change in the cultural and leisure life of local residents. We will continue to carefully manage the project so that it fulfills the wishes of the residents, as we have prepared thoroughly so far.”

Meanwhile, the Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center was selected as the project site after conducting a preference survey among Beolgyo-eup residents in 2020, choosing it as the top candidate among five potential sites. In 2021, a survey on leisure and sports facilities was conducted among all residents of the county and reflected in the design.
