Gijang-gun Receives Minister of Strategy and Finance Award for Promotion of Statistical Work This Year
The Only One Among 16 Local Governments in Busan City
Busan City Gijang-gun will receive the Minister of Strategy and Finance Award at the ‘2023 Statistics Work Promotion Merit Awards’ hosted by Statistics Korea.
The 2023 Statistics Merit Awards are given to institutions that have contributed to the development of national statistics by successfully conducting nationwide economic surveys such as the National Business Survey and the Mining and Manufacturing Survey.
Gijang-gun was evaluated for successfully completing the entire survey process, including ▲establishing its own implementation plan ▲improving working conditions in the statistics office ▲promoting through various media ▲managing personnel, and as a result, it had the honor of being the only institution within Busan City in 2023 to receive a ministerial award.
In particular, this year Gijang-gun not only conducted a nationwide economic survey with no non-responding businesses but was also highly praised for its differentiated contribution by actively cooperating in the ‘Second Pilot Survey of the Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Census’ hosted by Statistics Korea, setting it apart from other local governments.

A Gijang-gun official said, “We would like to especially thank the residents of Gijang-gun who sincerely responded, recognizing the importance of the survey despite the increasingly difficult survey environment with rising non-cooperation and response avoidance.” He added, “The 2023 Statistics Work Merit Award for Gijang-gun is the result of the combined efforts of related public officials under the head of the institution and survey personnel participating in education and promoting the survey. We will do our best to ensure that Gijang-gun’s unique passion to contribute to the development of national statistics continues to achieve desired results in future large-scale surveys.”
