Legal Basis Established for Dental Research Institute... "Full Effort for Cheonan Establishment"
The legal basis for establishing the National Institute of Dental Science has been prepared. Chungnam Province plans to launch an all-out effort to establish the Dental Science Institute in Cheonan.
According to Chungnam Province on the 28th, the day before, the 'Partial Amendment to the Act on the Promotion of Health and Medical Technology,' which will serve as the legal basis for establishing the Dental Science Institute, passed the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
Chungnam Province expects that if it passes the plenary session scheduled for the same day (28th), the establishment of the Dental Science Institute will come within sight.
The amendment includes ▲establishment of the National Institute of Dental Science as a special corporation under the Ministry of Health and Welfare ▲promotion of technology research and development and technology standardization in the dental science field ▲training of excellent researchers in the dental science field ▲support for specialized research and development in the dental science field.
Previously, Chungnam Province has been promoting the establishment of the Dental Science Institute in Cheonan. Governor Kim Tae-heum of Chungnam Province proposed to President Yoon Suk-yeol in July last year and February this year that since the establishment of the Dental Science Institute in Cheonan was included in the president's regional pledge, the institute should be established in Cheonan without a nationwide public contest process.
Also, in November last year, an official agreement was signed with Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don, Dankook University President Kim Soo-bok, Osstem Implant CEO Eom Tae-gwan, and Chungnam Dental Association President Park Hyun-soo to officially promote the establishment of the Dental Science Institute in Cheonan.
In February, an agreement was signed with the Korean Dental Association, which has about 30,000 dentists nationwide, to join forces for the establishment of the Dental Science Institute in Cheonan. In March, the National Institute of Dental Science Chungnam (Cheonan) Establishment Promotion Committee was launched to form nationwide public opinion.
In particular, Chungnam Province and Cheonan City purchased a 5,162㎡ site within the Cheonan-Asan KTX station area for the establishment of the Dental Science Institute after completing a feasibility study to urge the prompt implementation of the president's regional pledge.

Governor Kim Tae-heum of Chungnam Province said, “Since the establishment of the Dental Science Institute is a presidential regional pledge, it should be promoted by designation (establishment in Cheonan) rather than a nationwide contest. Chungnam Province will make an all-out response with local political circles to ensure that the Dental Science Institute can take root in Cheonan, taking advantage of the legal basis for its establishment.”
