The first step of the Gapjin year starts from the site of public livelihood... Encouraging sanitation workers, volunteering for free meals
Mayor Jo chose Yeomyeong-gil (Teheran-ro 1-gil) near Gangnam Station as his first step of the new year. On January 2 at 8 a.m., he visits the site to encourage sanitation workers who have been cleaning the streets since dawn. The area around Gangnam Station is particularly difficult to clean due to the many illegal flyers scattered overnight. He plans to clean the streets together with 10 sanitation workers working here and listen carefully to their difficulties while having breakfast.
At 11 a.m., he meets vulnerable elderly people while volunteering for free meals at Sodam Restaurant on the first floor of Suseo Comprehensive Social Welfare Center. This center provides lunch six days a week to about 210 elderly residents aged 65 or older living in the nearby Suseo 6th Complex. On this day, he will personally serve tteokguk (rice cake soup), a special New Year's dish, and exchange New Year's greetings and well-wishes with the elderly to welcome a warm new year.
Thoroughly managing pending tasks on site... Inspecting Smart Dong Office and Robot Hub District
To directly check the Smart Gangnam Dong Office, which will be fully operational in 22 neighborhoods from the new year, he visits Gaepo 2-dong Community Center. The Smart Gangnam Dong Office, the first of its kind nationwide, is a platform that digitizes neighborhood status data that was previously managed manually. On the 75-inch monitor, real-time traffic conditions, disaster situations, CCTV, and various facility information specialized for neighborhood management are displayed. Mayor Jo plans to confirm the meticulously completed smart administrative system down to the frontline neighborhoods through this visit.
Additionally, he visits the Suseo-dong 730 Robot Plus Demonstration Development Support Center, scheduled for completion in March next year, to check the progress of construction. The first and second phase facilities have completed construction and equipment and furnishings have been installed, while the third phase is about 70% complete. After completion, when the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's national project competition is fully launched, Gangnam District plans to activate the robot industry further by forming a consortium with government ministries' project competitions and robot companies in line with this.
