Presidential Office: "English-language Foreign Media Reflects South Korea's Elevated Status"
Mentioned by Washington Examiner and The Economist
The Presidential Office introduced on the 27th that English-speaking foreign media reports have continued to highlight South Korea's rising international status in various fields.
The Washington Examiner, a conservative American political magazine, reported on the 27th in an article titled "K-Power: South Korea Rising as a Global Hub Nation Attracting U.S. Allies" that few countries have received as much geopolitical attention as South Korea over the past two years, and that President Yoon Suk-yeol has also made his presence felt worldwide, according to the Presidential Office.
The newspaper first introduced that President Yoon thrilled the White House audience by singing Don McLean's "American Pie" at the U.S. state dinner in April this year.
It also mentioned the most recent state visit to the Netherlands, where under the declaration of a "semiconductor alliance," an investment agreement worth $755 million was reached between ASML and Samsung.

Chris Miller, author of the well-known domestic book "Chip War," said about this Korea-Netherlands relationship, "From the U.S. perspective, this relationship is meaningful," and added, "Semiconductors produced in Korea are probably safer than those made in Taiwan or the U.S.," the newspaper reported.
It also introduced that "South Korea has already emerged as a key player in the Ukrainian military supply chain," and "Although it is an indirect route coordinated with the U.S., it is known to have provided Ukraine with 'more ammunition than all European countries combined.'
President Yoon also cited recent reports on the Korean economy by the British magazine The Economist during the Cabinet meeting the day before, highlighting economic achievements.
President Yoon emphasized, "The globally authoritative economic magazine The Economist comprehensively evaluated inflation, employment, growth, and stock prices, ranking our economy second among 35 OECD countries," and added, "Unlike the previous administration, our government has maintained market economy principles and sound fiscal policies based on private sector vitality, resulting in higher employment rates and lower unemployment rates than any previous government."
