Elementary, middle, and high school students from 14 cities and counties presented and shared their growth process through the exciting and thrilling preparations for the overseas cultural experience, impressive activities and places, distinguished figures, and enjoyable experiences with local people.
The 'Student Overseas Cultural Experience' program organized by the Provincial Office of Education this year is a training program in which 500 elementary, middle, and high school students visit five countries?Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, and Cambodia?to understand multicultural neighbors easily encountered around us and grow as global citizens.
By studying and experiencing neighboring countries that are close yet relatively unfamiliar, students vividly experienced the history, society, new industries, and potential of those places, providing an opportunity for students to dream bigger and better. Parents also reported seeing changes and growth in their children after returning from the overseas training.
Kim Yun-seo (Wanju Middle School) said, "When I went abroad, the culture was definitely different, but I felt that we should respect each other, thinking that those differences are common there."
Superintendent Seo Geo-seok said, "This year's overseas training for about 2,400 students was completed without a single safety accident," adding, "It is the result of the united efforts of students, parents, and accompanying teachers."
