Goheung-gun Selected as an Excellent City/County for Investment Attraction

Jeollanam-do Investment Attraction Evaluation Encouragement Award Winner

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it received the Encouragement Award for Investment Attraction at the ‘2023 Jeonnam Job and Economy Festival’ held at the Jeonnam Provincial Office on the 22nd.

Jeonnam Province conducts an annual comprehensive evaluation of 22 cities and counties within the province to promote investment attraction, assessing overall investment attraction efforts including investment attraction and realization performance, and the creation of investment attraction conditions.

Gohung-gun was honored as the first county to be selected as an excellent city/county for investment attraction by receiving the Encouragement Award in the 2023 Jeollanam-do Investment Attraction Evaluation. Despite the difficult economic conditions of high interest rates and high inflation and the investment winter, the county succeeded in attracting investments totaling about 200 billion KRW.

Through an investment agreement with LF Co., Ltd., the county is developing a resort village equipped with a hotel, arboretum, and art museum, and is promoting various development projects to expand local tourism infrastructure, including building the first youth hostel in the area with Donggwang Development Co., Ltd.

Additionally, the county is actively promoting the creation of new agricultural and industrial complexes such as the Donggang Specialized Agricultural and Industrial Complex, focusing on creating a business-friendly environment and expanding the base for investment.

Governor Gong Young-min said, “Despite difficult domestic and international conditions, thanks to the interest and efforts of Gohung residents and public officials, we have achieved the valuable result of being selected as an excellent city/county for investment attraction for the first time in our county,” and added, “We will continue to actively pursue investment attraction activities to revitalize the local economy and respond to the crisis of local extinction.”
