Highlighting Modern Trends and Sensibility While Preserving Traditional Elements
Actor Suzy's hanbok photo shoot video adorned New York's Times Square on Christmas. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation announced on the 26th that the hanbok promotional video was played on the Broadway billboard from 6 a.m. on the 24th until 2 a.m. the next day (local time).
The hanboks worn by Suzy were developed by six domestic small and medium-sized enterprises selected through a contest. These include Songhwa By Jeong (Jeong Hye-jin), Our (Jang Ha-eun), Yuhyeonhwa Hanbok (Yoo Hyun-hwa), Chai Kim (Kim Young-jin), Hapli (Lee Ji-eon), and Hanbokmun (Hwang Sun-tae). They maintained the traditional structure and elements of hanbok while highlighting modern trends and sensibilities.

Jang Dong-kwang, president of the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, said, "It is meaningful to promote hanbok, a representative content of Hallyu culture, in the heart of New York," adding, "We will continue to support hanbok to become a leading figure in the Hallyu wave." The video can be viewed on the Foundation's YouTube channel.
