When using hazardous materials exceeding the designated quantities (200 liters of gasoline, 1000 liters of diesel) at construction sites, temporary storage and handling approval must be obtained from the head of the local fire station, allowing storage and handling for up to 90 days. Quantities below the designated amounts are managed according to the Jeonbuk Province Hazardous Materials Safety Management Ordinance.
If hazardous materials exceeding the designated quantities are stored or handled without permission, the offender may face imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million won. If an unauthorized hazardous material accident causes injury to a person, the penalty is life imprisonment or imprisonment for three years or more.
