Choi Ji-young, Deputy Minister for International Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, reported assets totaling 48,639,470,000 KRW. Among high-ranking officials whose status changed in September, she holds the largest amount of assets. Son Jun-sung, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Daegu High Prosecutors' Office, involved in the 'accusation inducement' suspicion, reported assets of 1,981,010,000 KRW.
The government disclosed the assets of 88 individuals whose status changed between September 2 and October 1 (17 new appointments, 35 promotions, and 31 retirements) on the 22nd.
Among the current officials whose assets were disclosed this time, Deputy Minister Choi holds the largest amount, with 48,639,470,000 KRW. Of this, 43.7 billion KRW consists of unlisted stocks owned by her spouse, and 3.9 billion KRW consists of buildings such as apartments jointly owned by the couple. Deputy Minister Choi holds two apartments jointly with her spouse: one in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, and another in Gwangju Metropolitan City under her spouse’s name, as well as a jeonse right on an apartment in Sejong City under her own name and a jeonse right on an officetel in Yongsan-gu.
The second highest asset holder is Byun Pil-geon, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Suwon High Prosecutors' Office at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, who reported 41,831,550,000 KRW. Deputy Chief Byun reported buildings worth approximately 8 billion KRW, including an apartment in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu under his spouse’s name and commercial property in Seongdong-gu, as well as stock assets worth 7.7 billion KRW owned by his spouse and eldest son.
Among personnel at the Presidential Office, In Seong-hwan, appointed as the 2nd Deputy Director of the National Security Office in September, reported a total of 1,479,570,000 KRW, including an apartment in Dongjak-gu, Seoul jointly owned with his mother, an apartment in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Province under his spouse’s name, and a jeonse right on an apartment in Yongsan-gu under his spouse’s name.
Kim Dong-chul, President of Korea Electric Power Corporation and former member of the National Assembly, reported a total of 3,626,260,000 KRW, including an apartment in Dongjak-gu owned by himself worth about 1.1 billion KRW and securities worth about 1.4 billion KRW. This includes deposits totaling 910,670,000 KRW and securities worth 1,462,860,000 KRW, as well as bonds worth 10,200,000 KRW, held jointly by him and his spouse.
