As of 7 AM that day, the snowfall amounts were recorded as 23 cm in Deokcheon-myeon, 22.7 cm in Gobu-myeon, 21.4 cm in Ipyeong-myeon, 21.1 cm in Yeongwon-myeon, 21 cm in Jeongeup city center, and 20.1 cm in Buk-myeon, with an average of 16.24 cm.
Since safety accidents are a concern due to this heavy snowfall, the city conducted road snow removal to prevent traffic congestion and accidents.
In particular, to prevent pedestrian safety accidents, employees from the city hall and eup, myeon, and dong offices took charge of snow removal in their respective areas. Mayor Lee Hak-su also joined in by clearing snow around Saeam-ro.
Previously, the city had secured snow removal equipment in advance, including twelve 15-ton dump trucks equipped with sand spreaders covering 408 km across 63 routes in the region, as well as 950 tons of calcium chloride, 1,860 tons of salt, and 50,000 bags of sand.
For snow removal vulnerable areas such as Chilbo Gujeoljae, Naejang Bangsanjae, and Shintaein-eup, snow removal bases were designated and brine solution was placed in brine storage tanks.
Mayor Lee Hak-su stated, “Thorough preparation and snow removal are necessary to prevent safety accidents caused by heavy snowfall,” and added, “We will respond promptly to minimize inconvenience to citizens through swift snow removal operations.”
