BPA Expands Busan New Port South 'Con' Rail Yard Facility... Improving Operational Efficiency
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) has additionally developed a 28,000㎡ container storage yard at the Busan New Port South Container Rail Yard.
To resolve the difficulties faced by operators due to the lack of container storage space at the South 'Con' Rail Yard and to revitalize rail yard operations, BPA has developed part of the South 'Con' hinterland site (28,000㎡) as an additional storage yard.
The additional storage yard at the South 'Con' Rail Yard has completed site preparation, including fence installation and ground leveling. BPA plans to finish electrical facility work such as dismantling the existing gate and installing lighting towers, aiming to start operations in the first half of next year.
The additional storage yard will be operated by Samik Logistics, the current operator of the South 'Con' Rail Yard, according to the contract terms established when the initial tenant was selected. Samik Logistics is expected to achieve more efficient operations by utilizing the newly added storage yard in addition to the existing 6,800㎡ storage area.
