Korean Writers' Association to Hold Night of Political Literature Near Hongdae on the 26th
The Korean Writers' Association announced on the 20th that it will hold a Night of Political Literature titled "The Path of Writers and Practice" at 7 p.m. on the 26th at the small theater 'Dari' near Hongdae.
The Korean Writers' Association mentioned the Fukushima nuclear wastewater discharge, the Itaewon tragedy, and the Osong disaster, criticizing that "(the government) is more concerned with protecting its own security than the safety of the people."
Regarding next year's cultural and arts budget cuts, they stated, "This is weakening the critical function of art in reflecting reality," and claimed, "Literature and the arts are being suppressed again through indirect means."

They continued, "There are no prison poetry readings, no group hunger strikes, but the phrase from an old declaration, 'All that remains for us is the freedom to go to prison,' resonates more clearly in these times," adding, "Just as senior writers gathered 50 years ago to resist unjust power, we hold this Night of Literature to reflect on the calling and responsibility of literary artists."
