The Bank of Korea Publishes 2023 Revised Edition of 'Easy-to-Understand Economic Indicator Explanations'
The Bank of Korea announced on the 20th that it has published the 2023 revised edition of "Easy-to-Understand Economic Indicators Explanation" to help users better understand various economic indicators.
"Easy-to-Understand Economic Indicators Explanation" has been revised nine times since its first publication in 1983.
In this 10th revised edition, the newly organized News Sentiment Index is introduced, and a new "Learn More" section containing detailed explanations and background knowledge about statistics has been added.
The News Sentiment Index quantifies economic sentiment appearing in economic news articles. It extracts representative sentences from economic news articles on internet portal sites, classifies the sentiment of each sentence as positive, negative, or neutral using machine learning methods, and calculates the index by measuring the difference between the number of positive and negative sentences.
