Naver Launches Beta Test for Game Streaming Platform 'Chijijik'
Naver is officially entering the game streaming market. With Twitch deciding to withdraw from Korea in February next year, attention is focused on whether Naver can fill that gap.
On the 19th, Naver announced that it will conduct a beta test of its game streaming platform 'Chijijik (CHZZK)'. The official service is scheduled for the first half of next year.
Earlier, on the 5th, Naver conducted an internal closed test for employees. Since the service is now being conducted for actual streamers, the 'Chijijik' service has effectively begun in earnest.
During the beta period, 'Chijijik' will sequentially introduce features and check the convenience and stability of the service. During the beta period, anyone can watch, and the platform plans to expand to allow more streamers to broadcast.
With the start of the beta service, 'Chijijik' will first offer features such as ▲high-definition resolution up to 1080p 60fps with a bitrate of 8Mbps ▲VOD replay ▲TTS voice sponsorship. 'Chijijik Studio' will also be supported to enable streamers to communicate conveniently with their fans. Through this, streamers can view various information for channel management, from subscriber-related data to detailed sponsorship details and content analysis materials.
In the future, 'Chijijik' plans to enhance the competitiveness of its core game community service by linking with various services owned by Naver, such as Naver Search, Game Board, Naver Cafe, and Clips. Starting today, viewers can support streamers through 'Cheese,' the in-platform currency of Chijijik, which can be conveniently purchased via Naver Pay. Until the official launch, 'Chijijik' will continue to update related features such as ▲Naver Search integration ▲channel subscriptions ▲video sponsorship.
A Naver representative explained, "In the gaming field, we have built a game-specialized community where game companies, creators, and users come together," adding, "We have strengthened the game community we have built so far and launched 'Chijijik' so that streamers and users can communicate in real time and enjoy games more actively."
Meanwhile, Twitch declared that it will completely withdraw from Korea starting February 27 next year, following last September's decision to lower the video quality to 720p and stop supporting replays due to the burden of network usage fees.
