Democratic Party Deputy Spokesperson Lee Kyung, Who Claimed "A Substitute Driver Was Driving," Sentenced to a 5 Million Won Fine for Retaliatory Driving Charges
Lee Kyung, the senior spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea (43), who was prosecuted on charges of retaliatory driving, including cutting in on the road and sudden braking, was sentenced to a fine.
On the 18th, Judge Jung Yumi of the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Division 11 announced that Lee, who was indicted on charges of special intimidation, was sentenced to a fine of 5 million won.
Lee claimed that "a designated driver was driving," but the court did not accept this. The court stated, "There is no objective evidence such as the contact information of the designated driver," and "It is hard to accept that a designated driver, who drives professionally, would drive a vehicle that is not their own and engage in threatening or retaliatory driving twice against surrounding vehicles."
The court also found it hard to believe Lee's claim that "I was deeply asleep and have no memory," stating, "Since the sudden braking was done by completely stopping the vehicle while traveling at about 50-60 km/h, the driver or passengers would have experienced a significant shock, and the sudden braking occurred only about 10 minutes after departure."
