Jeju Western Fire Station and Aewol Nonghyup Hold Fire Safety Equipment Donation Ceremony

Jeju Western Fire Station (Chief Go Jeong-bae) and Aewol Nonghyup (Chairman Kim Byung-su) announced on the 18th that they held a donation ceremony for fire safety equipment, specifically automatic fire-extinguishing power strips, at the Western Fire Station on the 15th to distribute them to facilities for the elderly and vulnerable groups to prevent electrical fires.

This donation ceremony was carried out in collaboration with the Western Fire Station following Aewol Nonghyup's expression of intent to donate fire safety equipment as part of its social contribution activities.

The initiative aims to reduce casualties and property damage and expand local safety infrastructure by distributing automatic fire-extinguishing power strips that can automatically extinguish electrical fires to welfare facilities for the disabled, children, and elderly, where quick evacuation during a fire is difficult.

Accordingly, 100 automatic fire-extinguishing power strips for electrical fire prevention will be distributed to facilities for the elderly and vulnerable groups, such as nursing homes and daycare centers located in Aewol-eup, as well as to single elderly residents.

In addition, safety education for related personnel, including training on initial fire response procedures and precautions when using electrical appliances, will also be conducted.

Chief Go Jeong-bae said, “An analysis of 1,671 fire cases in the Jeju area over the past three years shows that electrical fires accounted for 516 cases (30%), a significant proportion. We expect that distributing automatic fire-extinguishing power strips will greatly help prevent electrical fires and create a safer environment in facilities for the elderly and vulnerable groups.”

Kim Byung-su, Chairman of Aewol Nonghyup, stated, “We will contribute to making Jeju safer through continuous social contribution activities linked with the local community.”
