Gochang-gun Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Resource Circulation Performance Evaluation

Gochang-gun was selected as an excellent institution in the 2023 Jeollabuk-do Resource Circulation Promotion Performance Evaluation.

According to the county on the 18th, this evaluation is conducted annually by Jeonbuk Province to promote resource recycling, targeting 14 cities and counties. It comprehensively evaluates four areas: cleaning administration, waste disposal, resource recycling, and key policies to select outstanding institutions.

The county was selected as an excellent institution again this year, following its selection as the best institution last year.

In particular, the county received excellent results in 8 out of 14 indicators (budget execution, improvement of separated collection environment, hazardous environment improvement, waste generation suppression, agricultural waste collection, promotion of household goods recycling, efforts to increase recycling rate, guidance and inspection), earning the Governor’s Institutional Commendation along with a prize of 4 million KRW.

This year, the county promoted a national land cleanliness campaign through citizen participation, encouraging voluntary cleaning in front of homes and shops, and operated a zero single-use item festival at the “50th Gochang Moyangseongje” to realize resource circulation.

Kang Pil-gu, head of the Environmental Sanitation Division of the county, said, “This is the result of all citizens working together to suppress waste generation,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to build a consensus among all citizens on waste issues in Gochang-gun and to reduce waste.”
