54 Injured, Including Serious Cases, in Fire at Incheon Hotel Parking Lot... Extinguished Under Response Level 2
A fire broke out in a mechanical parking lot of a hotel in downtown Incheon, injuring 54 people with serious and moderate injuries.
According to the Incheon Industrial Complex Fire Station on the 18th, the fire occurred at 9:01 p.m. the previous day in the mechanical parking lot of a hotel (8,410㎡) located on the 3rd basement floor and 18 floors above ground in Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon.
Due to the fire, a man in his 20s fell during evacuation and sustained fractures, and a foreign woman in her 30s suffered second-degree burns over her entire body and was transported to a hospital. Additionally, 52 people inhaled smoke or complained of waist and ankle pain and received treatment at hospitals, with some returning home.
The fire authorities stated that at the time of the fire, 131 out of 203 hotel rooms were occupied. Immediately after the fire broke out, 44 guests and hotel staff were rescued by the fire department, and 100 people evacuated through the flames. Video footage taken at the scene during the fire showed a tense scene of people jumping from the rooftop of the burning hotel building to the rooftop of an adjacent building.

Earlier, a hotel official reported to 119 that "there were flames on the external ceiling connected to the mechanical parking lot on the 1st floor." The fire department, upon receiving the report, issued a Level 2 response at around 9:18 p.m., 17 minutes after the fire started, deploying 404 firefighters and 129 pieces of equipment, and completely extinguished the fire at around 10:31 p.m., 1 hour and 30 minutes later.

The fire authorities believe the fire spread rapidly as vehicles in the mechanical parking lot caught fire, and they are investigating the exact cause and extent of the damage. A fire department official stated, "We plan to conduct a joint on-site inspection in coordination with the police and detailed schedules."
