The ‘Bulbongine Volunteer Group (Leader Kim Seok-nam)’ from Bullo Bongmu-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu, which has been helping neighbors through home repairs, received the Grand Prize at the ‘6th Korea Housing Welfare Culture Awards’ ceremony held at the National Assembly Library.
This award is presented by the Housing Welfare Culture Movement Headquarters to recognize institutions, organizations, and citizens who have quietly worked to realize housing welfare.
Organized in 2016 by about 20 local residents interested in home repair volunteering, the Bulbongine Volunteer Group practices service by replacing lights and insect screens and repairing plumbing and boilers for households with vulnerable housing conditions.
Twenty members of the 'Bulbonginne Volunteer Group,' who have been volunteering for home repairs for low-income families, are taking a commemorative photo after receiving the Grand Prize.
View original imageIn cooperation with the Welfare Team of the Bullo Bongmu-dong Administrative Welfare Center, they identify marginalized groups in need of housing environment improvement and lead the creation of a community where civilians and government work together by solving home repair issues through regular monthly volunteer work.
Leader Kim Seok-nam said, “I am happy to contribute to improving the housing environment for vulnerable groups through volunteer activities, and I will continue talent donation activities so that residents can live more safely and comfortably.”
