Goheung-gun Holds Performance Sharing Meeting for Regional Culture Vitalization Support Project

Community Participation Cultural Activities Exhibition and Experience Programs Presented

Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Yeong-min) and the Goheung-gun Cultural City Center held the ‘Goheung People, Life’ performance sharing event (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Sharing Event’) from the opening ceremony on the 13th to the 15th, with about 1,000 Goheung residents visiting over three days to review the activities of the regional culture vitality promotion support project for this year.

The regional culture vitality promotion support project is a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism-supported initiative aimed at increasing accessibility to regional culture and reducing cultural disparities between regions, targeting areas where vitality has declined due to population decrease. It was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Jeollanam-do, and Goheung-gun, and organized by the Goheung-gun Cultural City Center.

Accordingly, Goheung-gun conducted a project under the name ‘Goheung Cultural Living Zone’ to discover and spread various lifestyle contents unique to Goheung through culture. A total of 230 people (about 1,400 people in total) directly participated in 38 resident activities, including ▲Taste Community Munhwagapgye ▲Cultural Travel Nomad Goheung ▲Cultural Hub Space Goheung ▲Multi-Hub Creation Gong(共):ter ▲Bimonthly Magazine Modangmodang Publication.

The Sharing Event was an occasion for Goheung residents who met through the regional culture vitality promotion support project to preserve and share the value of Goheung’s regional culture, and various results of resident cultural activities were presented through exhibitions and performances.

Through key project content and result planning exhibitions in each field, the achievements of the Goheung-gun regional culture vitality promotion support project could be confirmed, and a special experience booth by participants of the ‘Taste Community Munhwagapgye,’ who met through similar cultural tastes and even carried out activities aimed at social values, was also opened among the key projects.

In particular, an installation artwork archiving the images of about 230 participants in the regional culture vitality promotion support project received great acclaim among visitors to the Sharing Event.

In addition, various programs that visitors could enjoy, such as ▲Goheung Mother’s Goheung Han Ssamb (wrap) ▲Neighborhood Photo Studio ▲Music Cafe, were also held together.

Especially on the 15th, a human library talk program was operated, providing time to share stories about how new relationships were formed through the regional culture vitality promotion support project and how each participant’s experience influenced their lives.

A government official said, “As a result of many residents and activists meeting through the regional culture vitality promotion support project over the past year, noticeable growth in Goheung-gun could be confirmed,” adding, “We will continue to find new points where Goheung people and life connect.”
