Police Raid Incheon Customs Office... Customs Employee Suspected of Drug Smuggling Conspiracy
On the 15th, the police conducted a search and seizure at the Customs Headquarters in connection with allegations that customs officers assisted in the smuggling of drugs into the country by overseas drug organizations.
The Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station carried out a search and seizure at the Narcotics Investigation Division of the Incheon Airport Customs Headquarters on the same day and secured related materials. The police suspect that customs officer A and others helped Malaysian drug organization members pass through a separate area instead of the quarantine station when they entered the country at the end of January, aiding the smuggling of 24kg of methamphetamine.
This is part of 74kg of methamphetamine brought into the country from January to September this year by three drug organizations composed of Koreans, Malaysians, and Chinese, using cargo and personal parcels. This is the second search and seizure; the police previously conducted a search and seizure last month for on-site verification, including confiscating mobile phones of Incheon Airport customs officers and customs CCTV footage.
