Police Conduct Search and Seizure at Seoul Western Police Station...Suspected Information Leak to Hospital During Investigation

A police official's workplace, the Seoul Western Police Station, was raided in connection with allegations that the official leaked investigation information about a hospital under investigation.

On the 15th, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they conducted a search and seizure at the Seoul Western Police Station, where Inspector A, who is suspected of leaking official secrets, is assigned. The police also carried out a search and seizure at a spinal treatment hospital in Eunpyeong-gu under investigation by Inspector A, as well as at the hospital director and other related personnel, securing relevant materials.

The police believe that before the Western Police Station conducted a search and seizure at the hospital in August over allegations that a medical device salesperson performed surgery instead of a doctor, investigation information was leaked to hospital officials through Inspector A. Inspector A is currently on standby, and disciplinary action is expected depending on the investigation results.

The case previously handled by the Western Police Station was transferred to the Mapo Police Station on the 10th of last month, and nine individuals, including the hospital director and medical company employees, have been booked on charges such as fraud and violation of the Medical Service Act. The Mapo Police Station is conducting search and seizure operations on the hospital and medical device company related to the charges.
