Chief Justice Cho: "We Must Devise Solutions to Overcome the Biggest Challenge of Trial Delays"
The first nationwide meeting of court presidents since Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae's inauguration was held on the 15th. The meeting discussed solutions to the issue of 'trial delays.'

View original imageThe presidents of a total of 37 courts, including six high courts, the Patent Court, 18 district courts, and administrative, family, and bankruptcy courts, gathered at 2 p.m. at the Supreme Court building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, to hold the regular nationwide court presidents' meeting.
Chief Justice Cho stated, "We must explore various measures to solve the greatest challenge facing the judiciary, which is trial delays," and urged, "In particular, I ask the court presidents to take the lead in the judiciary's efforts to implement swift trials."
He continued, "I also ask for your interest and active support regarding various measures to realize a safe court," adding, "Through your experience, high insight, and deep understanding, I request that you play an active role in helping our judiciary regain the love and trust of the people."
At the meeting, discussions were held on the topics of 'Measures to ensure a safe court' and 'Measures to guarantee the right to a speedy trial.' Following this, a free discussion took place, during which improvements to the court president candidate recommendation system and the assignment of court presidents to long-unsolved cases are expected to be discussed.
