Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education Holds AI Education and Digital Leading Schools Performance Sharing Meeting
Sharing Best Practices... Special Lecture by Professor Kim Hyun-chul of Korea University
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 15th that it held the '2023 AI Education and Digital Leading Schools Performance Sharing Meeting' at the Gwangju Digital Contents Cube (GCC).
The performance sharing meeting was held the previous day for about 100 teachers in charge from AI education and digital leading schools.
Under the theme of 'Digital Transformation and the Direction of AI Education,' the event included a special lecture by Professor Kim Hyun-chul from Korea University and a session to share various achievements and best practices from the operation of leading schools over the past year.
Case presentations focused on AI education leading schools, specifically on the establishment of AI classrooms and digital leading school classes.
Participants were able to learn about ways to enhance students' basic AI literacy and experiences of classes using the latest edutech through a case presentation on AI education leading schools by Seo Jeong-hwa, a teacher at Kumho Elementary School.
Additionally, through a case presentation related to digital leading schools by teacher Lee Seung-hee, examples of student participation classes using smart devices and process evaluation operations were shared.
Superintendent Lee Jeong-seon said, "I hope AI and digital education will be activated not only in leading schools but in all schools in Gwangju," adding, "We will continue to support so that all students can acquire diverse skills and lead the future."
Meanwhile, the Office of Education designates and operates 52 AI education leading schools, 7 AI convergence education-focused high schools, and 3 digital leading schools.

AI education leading schools and AI convergence education-focused high schools play a regional hub role by creating AI and digital educational environments and operating various educational activities to expand AI and SW education and AI convergence education. In addition, digital leading schools are striving to lead class innovation by applying various AI and digital-based teaching and learning methods such as AI courseware and edutech.
