Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok commented on the resignation of former People Power Party leader Kim Ki-hyun, saying, "I knew there was pressure regarding his position, but I did not expect him to resign immediately after meeting me."
On the 15th, Lee appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' and said, "When I heard that Kim Ki-hyun was trying to fulfill his duties until the end, I thought he intended to continue as party leader and lead the election," adding, "He made the decision about three or four hours after parting ways with me, so I was also caught off guard."
He continued, "Politics should not become too heartless," and said, "As of this Monday, even first-term lawmakers were sending messages in Telegram group chats defending Kim Ki-hyun, which became news. But by Wednesday or Thursday, the atmosphere defending Kim Ki-hyun disappeared, and everyone was just watching Yongsan cautiously. The fact that the party's mainstream changes from morning to evening is the biggest problem."
Regarding the transition of the People Power Party to an emergency committee system and the candidate for the new emergency committee chairman, he said, "As an entertainment character, former Innovation Committee Chairman In Yo-han is the best," and added, "If Kim Han-gil, the National Integration Committee Chairman, becomes the leader, I feel the party might explode."
He also said, "When I went to Daegu, I talked about the cuckoo parasitism theory," explaining, "This means that in conservative parties, cuckoos keep laying eggs, and conservatives end up raising cuckoo eggs. This is not a joke; it is becoming a reality."
Regarding the Nakjun (Lee Nak-yeon and Lee Jun-seok) alliance, he said, "There has been no discussion at all," and added, "Politics is something that can be discussed among relatively close people, but I think there is still a distance in that regard."
