Gokseong-gun Receives 'Excellence Award' in Population Policy Evaluation

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced on the 14th that it won the Excellence Award in the 2023 Population Policy Excellence City/County Evaluation among 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do.

The Population Policy Excellence Institution Evaluation selects and awards outstanding cities and counties that have actively implemented population policies within Jeollanam-do. This was established to encourage community participation in solving population issues and to widely promote effective population policy cases.

The first evaluation was conducted through eight quantitative indicators including ▲population social increase/decrease rate ▲issuance rate of cultural welfare cards △performance of visiting address change services ▲population education ▲support for youth community revitalization, as well as a qualitative evaluation of excellent population policy cases. The second evaluation was conducted in the form of presentations.

Gokseong-gun received high evaluations for its ‘Gokseong-type Workation’ project aimed at continuous inflow of living population at the corporate level and formation of related companies, and for the operation of youth center programs at ‘Bibil Eondeok 25,’ a youth activity space hub facility.

A Gokseong-gun official said, “We will continue to discover youth policy projects and do our best to attract living population and improve residential environments to respond to regional population decline.”

Gokseong-gun is laying the foundation for youth to settle and become economically independent through various supports such as providing youth cultural vouchers, settlement funds for youth employed in local companies, housing cost support for employed persons, and expanded childbirth incentive support.

Additionally, in June, it was finally selected as the target site for the 2024 Jeonnam Youth Public Rental Housing Construction Project, and public rental housing worth 20 billion KRW will be built to support youth settlement and improve residential environments.
