Hampyeong-gun Urges Facility Management in Preparation for Cold Waves and Heavy Snowfall
On the 14th, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it is urging special attention to the management of crops and facilities to prevent damage to farms caused by sudden cold waves and heavy snowfall.
First, to prepare for the cold wave, torn parts of the vinyl should be quickly repaired, and thermal covers such as non-woven fabric, curtains, and tunnels should be reinforced to prevent heat inside the greenhouse from escaping, thereby preventing cold damage to crops.
If the temperature of facility crops falls below the growth limit temperature due to the cold wave, crops may freeze to death or experience growth cessation (tip burn) depending on the duration of exposure to low temperatures.
Therefore, the nighttime minimum temperature should be maintained at 12℃ or higher for fruiting vegetables and 8℃ or higher for leafy vegetables.
If heavy snow accumulates like wet snow and there is a risk of greenhouse collapse, tearing the vinyl can prevent greater damage such as aggregate breakage.
In addition, to prevent fires, check for damage to electrical wiring insulation in electrical facilities, heaters, and workplaces, operation of leakage circuit breakers, oil leaks from heaters, and the placement of fire extinguishers, and repair or replace them through professional companies if necessary.
