The Seongsan Fire Station of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, urged caution in the safe use of wood-fired boilers as the risk of fire increases with the rise in usage during the winter season.
Since wood-fired boilers primarily use wood as fuel, there is a significant risk of fire caused by sparks or ashes, requiring special attention.
If a large amount of fuel is loaded into a wood-fired boiler without a temperature control device, the radiant heat from overheating can ignite nearby combustible materials, or sparks from the fuel inlet or chimney can spread to surrounding firewood or roof materials, creating many fire hazards.
The correct usage of wood-fired boilers includes ▲ storing combustible materials and the boiler at least 2 meters apart ▲ being cautious of burns when opening or closing the fuel inlet ▲ avoiding loading a large amount of fuel at once ▲ always closing the fuel inlet after adding wood fuel ▲ and keeping a fire extinguisher near the wood-fired boiler.
