Ulsan Mayor Kim Du-gyeom Receives Commendation for Investment Attraction
Scholarship Presentation and Special Lecture on 'Ulsan Growth Strategies'
An academic conference encompassing all companies that invested in Ulsan this year was held on the 13th. Since the launch of the 8th term of the Ulsan Metropolitan City government, a total investment attraction achievement of 18 trillion KRW has been made from about 290 companies.
Ulsan City announced that on the 13th at 10 a.m., it held the ‘2023 Successful Investment Companies Conference’ at Ulsan Lotte Hotel, attended by about 100 people including executives and employees of domestic and foreign investment companies and related organizations.

View original imageThis conference was organized to boost the morale of domestic and foreign investment companies that contributed to job creation and revitalization of the local economy through active investment, as well as technology-strong small and medium enterprises that relocated to or started up in Ulsan. It was also planned to promote investment activation by building networks between local governments and related organizations.
The event proceeded in the order of commendations from the Ulsan mayor, scholarship presentations, and a special lecture.
At the commendation ceremony, eight people including Jeong Dong-geon, Division Head of S-OIL Co., Ltd., were awarded for their contributions to attracting domestic and foreign corporate investments, and two people including Kang Da-gyeom, Director of Alice Healthcare Co., Ltd., were recognized for their efforts in promoting the hub of technology-strong small and medium enterprises.
Korea BASF Ulsan Plant (Plant Manager Heo Nam-ju) presented scholarships to support employment for local university students.
The employment support scholarship totals 10 million KRW and is awarded to 10 students (1 million KRW each) from three universities: University of Ulsan, Ulsan College of Science, and Korea Polytechnic University Ulsan Campus.
Korea BASF Ulsan Plant has been providing scholarships annually to local university students since 2017 to help them focus on their studies.
In the special lecture, Professor Lee Jong-seok from the Department of IT Convergence at Kumoh National Institute of Technology presented growth strategies for Ulsan companies under the theme ‘Global Industrial Environment Changes and Policy Trends.’

Kim Du-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan, said, “Despite difficult economic conditions, various companies, related organizations, and Ulsan City have united their will to achieve investment results following corporate attraction,” adding, “Next year, we will continue to create more quality jobs through active investment attraction activities, including boldly improving regulations that hinder corporate activities.”
